Keller Williams “Celebrates the Holidays” and Releases Children’s Album

The ecclectic Keller Williams is gearing up to bring his soulful, funky, dance-funk-alt rock to the East Coast this winter with a string of special “Celebrate the Holidays” tour dates.  Beginning on December 29th in Virginia and ending on New Years Eve in North Carolina, each show will feature three differently themed sets.  The first set will center around reggae, dub, and funk, the second set will feature a distinctly bluegrass flair, and the third set will focus on acoustic guitar dance grooves.  The shows are destined to be events to remember.  Just prior to these special appearances, Williams will play his annual concert benefiting the SPCA on in his hometown of Fredericksburg, Virginia.  The show will take place on December 26th at the Fredericksburg Fieldhouse and 100% of the concert’s profits will go to the Fredericksburg Regional SPCA which is a “no-kill” shelter for animals focusing its efforts on education, adoption, rehabilitatio, and spay/neuter options.

Keller has had an extremely busy 2010, which saw the May release of his acclaimed cover album Thief, as well as the more recent unveling on October 26th of his children’s record Kids.  Williams will tour in support of the new release as the “Super Music Friend” on Nikelodeon’s Yo Gabba Gabba tour, as well as play to older children in the same cities later on in the evenings.  Check out all Keller Williams tour dates below:

Casey Neill and the Norway Rats Prepare To Tour In Support Of Latest Album

Goodbye To The Rank And File is the latest album from Casey Neill and the Norway Rats and it is a dandy.  Featuring guest appearances by R.E.M. touring musician Scott McCaughey and Talkdemonic’s Lisa Molinaro, combined with outstanding permanent members of The Norway Rats that include The Decemberists’ Jenny Conlee and the Lucinda Williams Band’s guitar player, Chet Lyster, the album is a delightful mix of rich harmonies, touching lyrics, and bellowing vocals.

Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate Benefit Show at the El Rey

Andrew McMahon is the brainchild behind two of the most popular piano rock bands around; he’s also a cancer survivor, philanthropist, and downright nice guy.  Something Corporate, McMahon’s southern California high school band turned worldwide success, dominated live music venues and college airwaves for years before he decided he needed a break.  Shortly thereafter the talented musician was diagnosed with leukemia.  It was also during this time that McMahon was crafting music for a new project, the soon-to-be world famous Jack’s Mannequin.  Throughout his rough journey, including a bone marrow transplant from his sister, McMahon kept all his fans in the loop, blogging often and making sure everyone knew what procedures he was undergoing and how he was coping with it.  Cut to 2010, when Something Corporate has reuntied, Jack’s Mannequin is still conquering the airwaves (and people’s hearts), and McMahon is in remission and doing his best to raise awareness and money for cancer research, including starting his own organization- the Dear Jack Foundation.

LONDON PROJECT: Graffiti6 Make Love to the Crowd at The Lexington (and a Couple gets Engaged).

Smooth Jazz? Pop Rock? Hip Hop? I don’t know. Neither do they. The bottom line is, as I stood there listening to the refreshingly unique flows of the Graffiti6 gang, I couldn’t help but move and sway with the crowd, sing along, and fall victim to the talents of producer TommyD (who has worked with the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye West, Kylie and Janet Jackson) and singer Jamie Scott. The swankily lit Lexington was packed with an eclectic array of people, a true testament to the beautiful amalgamation of sounds that Graffiti6 has created, that transcendes genre classification. So What Happened at the Show!?

Interview with Breakout Rockers I The Mighty

One listen to San Francisco Bay area-based pop punkers I The Mighty and you’ll be humming their songs for the rest of the day.  The saccharine sweet, smooth flowing melodies and addictive beats of the band are hooking fans and receiving recognition from the right entities, such as magazines and radio stations.  I The Mighty- Brent Walsh (vocals/guitar), Ian Pedigo (guitar), Chris Hinkley (bass/vocals), and Blake Dahlinger (drums)- are preparing for big things to come their way.  Sovereign Sound tracked down Walsh who opened up about writing music, heeding advice, and how to deal with the hype.

Interview With Switzerland’s Indie Rockers The Dandies

Hailing from Lucerne, Switzerland, indie garage outfit The Dandies, is rocking and rolling its way onto the international music scene.  The band; Adrian Weber (vocals/rythym guitar), brother Eric Weber (lead guitar/vocals), and Fabian Voirol (drums); blends quintessential aspects of indie, garage, and punk to produce electrifyingly rock songs.  Having crushed their recent appearance at SXSW and recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith, The Dandies show no signs of stopping before they achieve world domination.  We tracked down Adrian and forced him to answer a few of our questions on writing songs, life on the road, and what’s up next for his kickass band. Read the Interview for your own good.
